My Current Project: Airships and Submarines

Hey everyone! I just wanted to share an exciting update about my current project. After a lot of brainstorming, writing, and refining ideas, I’m thrilled to announce that I’m starting work on a tabletop prototype inspired by the story of Airships and Submarines! This project has been such a meaningful journey for me, blending themes of emotional growth, steampunk aesthetics, and creative crafting mechanics. Airships and Submarines

Airships and Submarines is a heartfelt steampunk-inspired story about 12-year-old Jordan navigating the emotional aftermath of his parents' divorce. Jordan feels stuck between his parents’ conflicts, burdened by guilt and the desire to fix their fractured relationship. The steampunk world becomes a metaphor for his journey, where broken machines and inventions symbolize the challenges of repairing emotional connections.

Struggling with anxiety, Jordan and his friends visit Ellie Tinkerspark, a wise bricoleur who teaches them that not everything can be fixed but that small, deliberate efforts can make a difference. Ellie helps Jordan craft a breath-powered fan, a symbolic tool to aid his coping. The fan, powered by Jordan’s own breath, reminds him that he can create calm and regain control even amidst chaos.

Jordan’s newfound confidence allows him to approach his parents with composure. In a pivotal moment, he calmly defuses tension between them, setting boundaries while expressing his appreciation for their efforts. Though his parents’ conflicts remain unresolved, Jordan begins to accept that their relationship isn’t his responsibility to mend.

The story explores themes of resilience, emotional growth, and self-empowerment. Through crafting mechanics, metaphoric steampunk aesthetics, and meaningful relationships, Jordan learns to balance care for his family with care for himself. The narrative’s emotional depth, blended with steampunk’s tactile beauty, creates a poignant tale about finding hope and strength in the face of life’s challenges.
