My Story
In 1995, I decided to make games and I had no idea what I was getting into…
Ever since I was a kid, gaming has been in my DNA. Back in 1983, I practically lived in the local arcade, and I ruled the Centipede machine like it was my personal domain. That passion for play only grew from there—my family put a huge emphasis on having fun together, so it’s always been a core value in my life.
By 1995, I realized I wanted to push my creativity further, and I decided to make games my medium for creating art. Of course, I had no idea what I was getting into when I started learning to code in ’97. There were no free game engines back then; everything had to be built from scratch, often in assembler.
Fast forward to 2007, when Microsoft released the XNA library, opening the door for indie developers like me to bring our ideas to life. Then Unity became free in 2009, and Unreal followed in 2014—two watershed moments that made the world of game development more accessible than ever.
It’s been a long, winding road, but also an incredible love affair: playing games, designing them, and finally building them. This blog is a manifestation of that love—an ongoing story of how games have shaped my life, and how I hope to inspire and connect with fellow gamers and creators along the way.
